insider's DISH TACOS & TEQUILA FESTIVAL The annual St. Pete Wine & Food Festival presented by Publix brings a brand new event to the five-day celebration—Tacos & Tequila! The event is hosted by Red Mesa, a locally distinguished expert and authority on Mexican cuisine. The dining spread promises a tasty taco extravaganza and topnotch selections of tequila plus the opportunity to sample designer margaritas during an enjoyable evening outdoors along the waterfront. When: Thursday, November 3, 2016, 6:30 – 9:30 PM Where: Downtown St. Pete’s North Straub Park How: $65 entrance fee (must be 21 years or older to attend) Learn more: StPeteWineAndFoodFest.com 400 Beach Expands with New Annex Chihuly Collection is saying farewell to Beach Drive and moving into its new home across from the Morean Arts Center on Central Avenue. In an expansion fittingly coined as the “400 Beach Annex,” part of this upcoming vacancy will be taken over by neighboring restaurant 400 Beach Seafood & Tap House and recreated into a family-oriented food, art and shopping venue by late 2016. Open early for breakfast and coffee, the venue will feature a charming sidewalk café that serves quick countertop selections (think: eggs, waffles, bagels, croissants, soups and sandwiches) all while overlooking the quaint, gorgeous view of Straub Park. “There was a call from locals and tourists alike for an early morning eatery on this side of the block,” says owner Steve Westphal on the inspiration behind the idea. In the midst of food and local culture, the other half of the market will focus on the shopping portion of the venue; items will range from Beach Drive souvenirs to clever, park-friendly picnic baskets packed with soccer balls, Frisbees, and snacks to take across the street for a festive afternoon. Since weekly hours are expected to range from 7:30 AM to 10 PM, strolling patrons can even stop in during the evening for soft-serve ice cream and homemade waffle cones. TAMPA INTERNATIONAL REIMAGINED WITH LOCAL FLARE Tampa International Airport is in the midst of a massive transformation inside and out! By the end of 2017, TIA aims to have 65 new restaurants, bars and shops constructed throughout the airport, with a huge emphasis placed on local flavor. Emily Nipps from Tampa International says, “We really wanted this new concessions program to look, smell and taste like the Tampa Bay region and we think most of these new restaurant concepts accomplish this.” Some familiar names include: Four Green Fields, The Gasparilla Bar, Ulele, Bavaro’s, RumFish, Ducky's, Columbia Restaurant, Cigar City Brewing, Mise En Place Café, Goody Goody Burgers, Buddy Brew, Alessi Bakery and Kahwa coffee. Since you’ve probably heard of (and dined at) most of these places, now you can welcome their touchdown to TIA! VEYTIA.
