Alumni in Action 2000s Tim Hyer ’01 was recently named Vice President Digital at Gardner-Gibson, Inc., a full line manufacturer of roof, driveway, and waterproofi ng coatings, caulks, spackles, and wallpaper adhesives. In this role, Hyer will collaborate with sales, marketing, and operations, leveraging technology both internally and externally to drive growth. Chris Whitney ’01 was promoted to president and CEO of Trans-Phos Inc. He will oversee its overall strategy, business development, and company performance. Mike Allison ’01 graduated Creighton University School of Medicine in 2010 and practices Family Medicine with Obstetrics and teaches at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program. He and his wife, Malena, have a son, Leo. Seve Gomez ’02 recently returned to the Tampa Bay area after living in China for 10 years. During his time in Shanghai, Gomez worked in the EB5 Visa Program, a U.S. Congress-approved program which allows foreign fi nanciers to invest in U.S. commercial real estate developments. Gomez is a graduate of Florida State with a degree in International Aff airs. He also studied at the National Taiwan University and is fl uent in Mandarin. Wesley Jones ’03, associate at Bush Ross Attorneys at Law, recently graduated from the 2016 Tampa Connection class. The program exposes members to a variety of sectors while interacting with leaders of each area to gain a better understanding of their role within the community. John Yodzis ’03 Executive Vice President of DOW Electronics, announced his company has reached an agreement with dB South Distributing to acquire certain assets and obtain distribution rights to key product lines and territories of the Marietta, Ga.- based fi rm. As a result of the planned acquisition, DOW will gain customers and key vendor relationships, and dB South’s retailers will have access to a greater array of products. 28 JESUIT PERSPECTIVES • FALL 2016 Michael Branham ’04 is now Medical Device Sales Representative at Arthrex. Daniel Hill ’05 recently relocated to San Diego and is now Marketing Manager – Litigation at DLA Piper LLP (US). John Hoenemeyer II ’06 graduated from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Tim Miller ’06 graduated from Emory University with a Master of Business Administration. Guillermo Pi ’07 graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine. Ryan Ravelo ’08 recently became a member of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. 2010s Jose Foradada IV ’11 is now a Licensed Real Estate Agent at AFLG Investments Real Estate, LLC. John Menard ’11 graduated from Purdue University this spring with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Menard is now a Metallurgical Lab Technician for Fiat Chrysler in Kokomo, Ind. where he will quality control test metal used to make engine blocks and transmission housings in Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, and Ferrari automobiles. Tommy Eveld ’12 was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the ninth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft. Eveld, redshirt junior closer for the University of South Florida, posted a 2.21 ERA with nine saves, striking out 67 and walking 24 in 53 innings this past season. Lance McCullers ’12 recently was nominated for MLB’s Roberto Clemente Award, which recognizes players for their community service. McCullers, who is a pitcher for the Houston Astros, created the Lance McCullers Jr. Foundation to support shelters and programs that promote pet adoptions. He is also a spokesperson for Houston Pets Alive, a “no kill” rescue and advocacy organization, and was featured on the cover of Houston Pet Talk magazine. Nolan Schultz ’12 recently was named an All-New York Region selection by D3baseball.com as a catcher for the University of Rochester. Schultz also was named 1st team All-Liberty League for the fourth straight year. In 2016, Schultz was second on the team with a .386 average and tied for the team lead with 13 doubles. Over his four-year career, Schultz hit .338 with 96 RBI and 86 runs scored. He is the school’s alltime leader in runners caught stealing with 53. Gabriel Otheguy ’13 is currently enrolled in the Honors Program at the University of Florida. He is a member of Cicerones, the elected ambassadors of UF, and is the President of SAE fraternity at UF. In February 2016, Otheguy was awarded The Order of the Phoenix for outstanding leadership, dedication, and service as Eminent Archon to the Florida Epsilon Chapter and to the 2016 Province Nu-Epsilon Leadership School. Michael Lee ’16, a freshman at Yale, was featured in the Tampa Bay Times at graduation in May. With classmate Will Ferguson ’16, Lee created We Are Unum (weareunum.weebly.com), where teens can read about issues they may encounter and how to overcome them.
