Will Clarke ’11 Trey Clarke ’08 Brothers in Support of Jesuit T rey Clarke ’08 loved his experience take now to leave an impression on at Jesuit High School, and he carried it with him into college and the professional world. All the while, he knew in the back of his mind that someday he wanted to give back to the school that gave so much to him. But as someone just starting a career, he didn’t have the means to make a contribution. Then his brother, Will Clarke ’11, told him about the 1899 Bequest Society. Bequest Society members are those who have indicated in writing that they have made provisions for Jesuit High School in their will or estate plans. Trey Clarke jumped at the chance. “I don’t know that I can ever fully pay Jesuit back for the fond memories and tools that my teachers, coaches, and friends have given me, but I would defi nitely like to try,’’ Trey Clarke said. “I hope this can be a starting point in that process, and can also help generations of future students to enjoy the experience that I was so fortunate to have.” 34 JESUIT PERSPECTIVES • FALL 2016 Now, the brothers represent the youngest of the nearly 60 Bequest Society members. “I wanted to be able to give back to Jesuit after they gave me so much, and still do to this day,” said Will Clarke, who lives in Atlanta and works for Heartland Payment Systems. “As a recent college grad, I don’t yet have substantial funds to directly give, but I still wanted to do something. “A life insurance policy seemed like a great way to get started in my giving back.” Ingrained with the notion of giving back, both brothers utilized life insurance policies as the means. “I felt that (a long-term life insurance policy) was a small step I could Jesuit long into the future,” said Trey Clarke, who is a Senior Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Tampa. “It is something I hope other young alumni will realize is an option.’’ In addition to supporting Jesuit, the Clarkes hope their gifts will raise awareness about the many options for donating to their alma mater. “It is nice to get in a routine of giving back to those who helped you along the way, and if this can encourage other recent grads to do the same early on, then Jesuit will only continue to grow as time goes on,” Will Clarke said. The brothers look back fondly on their Jesuit years. “As students we were fortunate enough to be connected with friends for not only four years, but friends we continued on to college with and beyond,” Will Clarke said. “I still speak with classmates every day and know that I will for life because of the opportunities Jesuit afforded us.” “My ultimate goal is to be able to give back to Jesuit after it has given so much to me and my family.” – Will Clarke ’11
