Social Seens... Photography by Gram and Noraa Mermaid Masquerade The Mermaid Masquerade to benefit the Kathleen Monahan Foundation in Tarpon Springs was held at the city’s Heritage Museum. The evening of dinner and dancing was enhanced by Masters of Ceremonies Mary K. and John Wilson. Kelly and Christopher Still, the honorary chairs of the event, made a special presentation to Margaret Word Burnside and Aaron Fodiman, the publishers of Tampa Bay Magazine, for their contributions to the culture of the Tampa Bay area. 166 TAMPA BAY MAGAZINE | JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2017 Kathleen Monahan, who has led the culture and arts movement in Tarpon Springs, and her husband Jim McNeely, thanked everyone for helping to support the foundation. International singing star and Tarpon Springs resident Sir Bertie Higgins of “Key Largo” fame performed with local music legend Dan O’Brien. Tampa Bay Magazine Publishers Aaron Fodiman and his wife Margaret Word Burnside were honored with a special presentation by Kelly and Chris Still at the event. Kelly Still and her husband Chris were the honorary chairs of the evening. Chris created his own diving helmet to wear as his costume. Ellie Kikis, the first lady of Tarpon Springs, and her husband, Mayor Chris Alahouzos, welcomed attendees to this fun evening for a good cause. Mary K. Wilson and her husband, John, who came to the event as the Phantom of the Opera, were the masters of ceremonies for the evening.
