Stone Crab Harvesting: A Season to Celebrate OUR FAMOUS WEEKLY SPECIALS The Original All-You-Can-Eat Snow Crab! – Mondays & Tuesdays ★ All-You-Can-Eat Fish & Chips – Wednesdays ★ Super Grouper Thursdays ★ Sizzling Steak & Seafood Specials – Friday, Saturday & Sunday Adjoining Sports Bar with ALL the games! To Florida fishermen, Oct. 15 marks the beginning of Stone crab season. To popular seafood eateries, it marks a time of year that’s worth celebrating. With live music and drink specials running all night at many beach restaurants and bars, lovers of seafood are welcomed to join in the fun at local Crab Fests. Annual Crab Fests are a beloved tradition on Clearwater Beach that draw in locals and visitors alike, some planning their vacations around this highlyanticipated seafood time. Stone crabs are found along both the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts but are commercially harvested almost entirely in Florida. Unlike that of the Blue crab, Stone crab harvesting involves only the collection of the oversized claws, which the crabs can regenerate, before returning them safely to the water. Highly nutritious, the meat of the Florida stone crab is considered a delicacy. It resembles lobster in appearance and flavor- sweet and succulent- and is delicious whether unseasoned, served hot with butter or cold with dipping sauce. Join us and celebrate the Stone crab! www.BeachChamber.com | 47
