Life on Himes Freshman Retreat The Class of 2020 comes together at Jesuit J esuit High School’s retreat program is a cornerstone of the formation of its students. Retreats are a refl ective experience designed to help a student take an honest look at his life, to know more clearly how he stands before God, and to provide tools for the further growth and development of his interior life. Many graduates, when they refl ect on their high school years, cite the retreats as among the most impactful experiences of their time at Jesuit. Every Jesuit student is obligated to make one retreat during the school year, and upperclassmen have a variety of retreat options to choose from, including the Kairos Retreat and Father-Son Retreat. The retreat options are spread out over the course of the school year and typically take place offcampus at retreat locales such as the Bethany Center in Lutz. The entire freshman class, however, participates in an on-campus retreat each fall. The day-long Freshman Retreat on Sunday, October 1, led by Fr. Patrick Hough, S.J., Jesuit’s Director of Campus Ministry, was an extraordinary, 10 JESUIT PERSPECTIVES • WINTER 2016-17 unforgettable experience for the fi rstyear students and a beautiful introduction to the retreat program at Jesuit.
