This year Suncoast Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is celebrating 40 years of providing hospice care to Pinellas County. In December, Empath merged AIDS Service Association of Pinellas (ASAP) with Francis House to create Empath Partners in Care, so that they will now serve more than 10,000 clients annually in Tampa Bay who are infected with or affected by HIV. 168 TAMPA BAY MAGAZINE | MARCH/APRIL 2017 Bruce Rabon got a kick out of his wife Kathy’s creativity of wearing a tea set to this “Through the Looking Glass” gala. She is Empath Health’s development director. Steve and Julie Weintraub of the Gold and Diamond Source helped volunteer auctioneer Don Germaise raise funds for Hospice by donating $10,000 at the gala. Rafael Sciullo, the president and CEO of Empath Health, welcomed guests to the gala that he attended with his partner and fiancé Mark Hall. Theresa Klingel, a member of the gala committee and her husband Rick were happy to have their company TSE Industries and family foundation continue as major gala sponsors. Roger Crabb and his wife Kelli, president of the Empath Health board and a former chair of the Suncoast Hospice board, enjoyed visiting with Mary Jean Etten, one of Suncoast Hospice’s founders. Bob and Kathy Stahl of Stahl and Associates Insurance were once again the presenting sponsors of the Suncoast Hospice Ball, which Kathy chaired.
