MARCH APRIL 2017 | TAMPA BAY MAGAZINE 55 St. Petersburg’s 100-year-old Morean Arts Center began talking with renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly in 2008 about obtaining a permanent collection of his work. Due to the Morean’s support of children’s art education and Chihuly’s passion for such education, he chose St. Petersburg as the home for the Chihuly Collection. Chihuly’s work is in more than 200 museum collections worldwide. Chihuly created this silvered, white-spotted Ikebana floral-like arrangement with gilded purple stems in 2006. ��
