They plan to build an osteopathic medical school on the campus that is on the west end of the Courtney Campbell Causeway. Their goal is to train doctors to treat underserved communities. Once again, the Patels’ generosity will result in a substantial benefit to the Tampa Bay area as they pursue their passion for education and charity. Phyllis Gorshe, director of the Dunedin Library, has announced the arrival of the Dunedin Times Historical Archive, which allows readers to access vintage newspaper issues online. Lee has been a member of the council for 22 years and has more than 43 years of experience in commercial real estate and development. Robert Schmidt, the mayor of Belleair Shore and Deputy Mayor Deborah Roseman were both re-elected to the town commission unopposed. Bob has served on the commission for 21 years and has been mayor since 2014. Deborah was appointed to the commission to fill a vacancy in 2013 and was re-elected without opposition in 2015. Lacey Ekberg was welcomed as the new president of the Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce at an event that was held at Currents Restaurant. William Emerson of Tarpon Springs was named a 2017 Florida Folk Heritage Award recipient by Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner. Emerson, a pastor, was recognized as a performing artist and composer of rhythm and blues and sacred music. He wrote and recorded hits for Memphis’ Sun Records including When It Rains It Really Pours, which Elvis Presley later recorded. Melissa Hughey has been named the Susan Petersen, the president and CEO of the Safety Harbor Chamber of Commerce, greeted guests to the 11th annual Taste of Safety Harbor that was held at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa.
