Meet The Artist Arlene Wells Arlene began her art career in Saudi Arabia where her husband was employed by Aramco for five years. Connecting with others who were temporarily residing outside their home country and who were also professional artists, Arlene engaged in private lessons and visited museums and galleries all over Europe and Asia during their extensive travels. Upon returning to the States, she completed college courses in drawing, painting, graphic design, and illustration. She taught art basics to both adults and children for Seminole Community School for five years and also worked as an interior designer producing unique home décor items for clients. Arlene also served with the North Tampa Arts League for seven years holding offices as Events Chair, Vice President and President. Since moving to Lakeland, she has become involved with the Lakeland Arts Guild. Arlene considers herself an expressionist. She communicates feeling through color making the color composition the primary focus of her work. She uses nature as a springboard for many of her pieces, playfully indulging the relationship between shape and color to produce a work apart from what we perceive as reality. The colors are harmonious and yet so deliciously energetic that they practically produce that involuntary salivation one gets before delighting the senses with something tart and tangy. Arlene’s vibrant, recognizable style will be featured at Bug’s Splatter Gallery from April 29th through July 29th with an opening reception (public invited) on April 29th. On October 17th, Doctor Affordable opened its doors for patients. This is a new general practice and walk-in clinic in the Zephyrhills area. Doctor affordable is focused on those who want efficient and cost effective access to a doctor. They do this by offering $40 office visits and help you obtain labs or testing at discounted rates through preferred vendors. Doctor Affordable does not take insurance and appointments are not needed. Doctor Affordable is owned by Dr. George Muthalakuzhy who is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as Nephrology/Hypertension. He has been practicing since 2003 and in the Hillsborough and Pasco areas for over 6 years. Dr. George felt that there was a need for this service in our community after meeting many patients who suffer the economic hardships of the times and in turn lapse in their healthcare management. Most urgent care clinics will charge over $100 for a visit for those uninsured. Even some copays and deductibles can be financially unbearable. By opening Doctor Affordable, he hopes to contribute to the health of the community where everyone will have access to basic medical needs for one low price.
