Ice Cream. Who doesn’t love it? Who doesn’t crave it? Who doesn’t find it irresistible? Since its introduction to America in the 1700’s, ice cream has been at the top of the list of our favorite snacks. The United States is second only to New Zealand in the amount of ice cream consumed per person per year. Vanilla is our favorite flavor. 87% of American households have ice cream in our freezers at any given time. Let’s face it... we love ice cream! For the residents of Harnett County that is great news! Smith Farms, located on Highway 55 in Coats offers up some of the best ice cream and other frozen treats you will ever taste! Founded just over six years ago, Smith Farms has become the go to place for frozen treats. Owned by lifelong Coats resident Leon Smith and his wife Gayle, Smith Farms serves many flavors of homemade ice creams and sorbets to satisfy even the most demanding ice cream connoisseur. Each week the menu varies, but will always have at least eight different and distinct flavors available. Each flavor has been painstakingly concocted by Leon Smith himself, with meticulous attention given to each one to make it perfect before it is ever offered for sale. Smith works tirelessly on each recipe, using only the freshest ingredients, including fresh local fruits when available. page SMITH FARMS By: Rick Myers Addison Tart, Allyssa Jacobs, Ashton Jacobs and Blake Tart enjoying an after school treat.
