Alumni News Yodzis ’03 Makes Rapid Ascent John Yodzis ’03 JESUIT PERSPECTIVES • SPRING 2017 21 Monteleone ’87 Hits the Mark Kevin Monteleone ’87 In his profession, as an oral surgeon and dental implant specialist in Tampa, Dr. Kevin Monteleone ’87 works with precision. In his passion, skeet shooting, Monteleone is as precise as they come. A competitive skeet shooter, Monteleone has been so successful that recently he was inducted into the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) Hall of Fame. Introduced to skeet while an undergraduate at the University of South Florida, in 1996 Monteleone won the Ohio State .410 championship while in Dental School, the fi rst of many accomplishments in the sport. Monteleone, has been named to 12 Open All American teams, was the 2007 Captain of the All American Team, and the 2002 and 2007 Champion of Champions World Champion. He is the fi rst shooter to win both the Mini and World HOAs and World HAA the same year, and holds the highest score during these two shoots with a combined score of 1049/1050. John Yodzis ’03 starting working as a 3rd-generation member of the family business when he was a student at Jesuit. Along the way he has engaged all aspects of DOW Electronics, from the warehouse to sales to management, developing a broad understanding of every step on the inside of the major consumer electronics technology distributor. In February, Yodzis, though only 32, took one fi nal step – to the top, promoted to President and Chief Operating Offi cer. Previously the company’s Executive VP for marketing, purchasing, and sales, Yodzis now oversees DOW’s seven Product Integration Centers in fi ve states (Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Texas) that serve DOW’s fi ve core industry verticals – satellite television, satellite broadband, VoIP, car stereo and integration, and consumer electronics and custom integration – in 11 southern states plus Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Tiger Classic Follows Through Ethan Grabill ’97 For 17 years, 1997 alums Geoff Goetz, Ethan Grabill, Tim Nalls, Chris Newcom, and Steve Shirley, have been giving back to Jesuit via their annual golf fundraiser, the Tiger Classic. At this year’s event in December, once again, they raised a full-year’s tuition, valued in 2017-18 at $15,575, for their alma mater to fund a full scholarship to a deserving student with demonstrated fi nancial need. Richard C. Hermes, S.J., and to address the student body at Convocation. Nalls and Grabill both spoke, expressing deep gratitude for their Jesuit experience, and discussing what being ’Men for Others’ means to them.
