The program also takes in dogs and cats from people who can no longer stay in their own homes due to illness or death. The animals are matched with elderly and disabled citizens who are homebound, in need of companionship, and unable to afford a pet of their own. The homebound caretakers will provide loving homes and ARAS will cover all costs and responsibilites for the pet. ARAS volunteers and staff will make regular visits to the foster homes and perform routine grooming, change litter boxes, and weigh and take the temperatures of the animals. They also provide a pet hospice program which provides around-the-clock critical care for the animals and much-needed interaction for the caretakers. Elder Paws is the 2016 Business Of The Year for Clermont County Board of Developmental Disabilities, a 2016 Top ������������ ���������������� ������ ���������������������������������������� and is a Bronze Member of Guidestar.org. The Elder Paws program is currently looking for volunteers to help with animal transport, screening,administration, graphic design, and public relations. It is also looking for help with building rehabilitation and a hydrotherapy tank for senior pets. The program is funded by donations. It also operates a thrift store located at 1374 W. Ohio Pike in Amelia, where donated items are resold at low cost to the community, and pick up and delivery is available in the greater Dayton and Cincinnati areas. Please phone 513-947-2729.
