QUILT BLOCK Recipe G. H. 127 J. Remove the hoop from the machine and place it on a flat surface. Use scissors to carefully trim the excess base fabric from around the tacking stitch. I. Stitch step 6 in the design. This is the placement stitch for the first folded fabric piece. Place your first fabric strip right-side down so ¼" of the fabric overlaps the inner edge of the placement stitch. Make sure that you have enough fabric to cover the placement stitch plus the seam allowance. Use tape to hold the fabric in place. K. L. Stitch the next step of the design. This is the folding stitch. Stitch step 5 of the design. These are the stippling stitches that will give the quilt block dimension. Once the folding stitch is complete, fold the fabric over so it forms a tight crease against the folding stitch. We use tape or spray adhesive to secure the fabric in place. Note: This is a common mistake made in class. You need to use tape to secure the fabric or your presser foot can get stuck.
