Dear Friends, Twenty-eight years ago, the University of Central Florida and the Orlando Shakespeare Festival at Lake Eola forged an alliance that has evolved into the Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF. Today that organization has matured into an esteemed company of actors, directors, educators, and artists that provides entertainment and enrichment to thousands of Central Florida theatergoers every year. Among the many talented Orlando Shakespeare Theater professionals are an enduring network of UCF students and alumni. From the Director of Development and Marketing to the new class of aspiring artists in the MFA degree program, proud Knights are instrumental in the success of every Signature Series production. This year, UCF students in our theater program will have the opportunity to participate in PlayFest, Orlando Shakespeare Theater’s annual new play festival, where they’ll engage in rehearsals and stage readings alongside professional actors and nationally-recognized playwrights. This year’s PlayFest, entitled After Pulse, will explore the national and community issues that spurred the malicious attacks at Pulse nightclub. Through the arts, we find truth and healing. It is our hope that After Pulse will reveal to students how theater can unite communities, initiate conversations, and change lives. One of the most exciting facets of our partnership is our recent collaboration on UCF Celebrates the Arts Festival at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. For the third year this spring, the Festival will feature the Orlando Shakespeare Theater, along with other artistic partners, to showcase our mutual investment in the Central Florida arts community. Thank you for your support of Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF. Here’s to an unforgettable 28th Season! Cordially yours, John C. Hitt President ucf PARTNERSHIP
