Fall sets the North Georgia mountains ablaze with color. The air is full of the sweet smells of the harvest: fresh apple cider and hot fried pies at the local apple house … a bucket of sizzling kettle corn at a fall festival … freshly mown hay in the fields. Downtown Blue Ridge is bustling with activity as visitors sample our unique shops, intimate boutiques and distinctive restaurants. It’s a scene so quaint and picturesque that you may think you’re in Mayberry! Food, Fun and More! At this time of year, the mountains are busy with fairs and festivals most every weekend. For example, Arts in the Park features more than 100 arts, crafts and food booths; the Home Builders Showcase offers a place for local Ex p lo re! builders and craftsmen to show off their talents; the Blairsville Sorghum Festival introduces folks to a truly Southern delicacy; and Paws in the Park helps pets and their people raise much-needed funds for the local Humane Society. You’ll also enjoy live music, local theater and, of course, apple picking! For more events and things to do, check out the Calendar of Events on page 82.
