elcome to the 91st season of your Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, the longest continuous symphony in the state of Florida! Your generous patronage has ensured that our symphony remains relevant and viable. Thank you so much. As you sit here tonight, I hope you appreciate the work of our maestro. We are also honored to celebrate Peter Rubardt’s twentieth year leading our fabulous orchestra. His leadership was critical to us managing the change that has happened over these twenty years, like when we moved out of and back into the Saenger Theatre. Throughout it all, the quality of our orchestra was not just sustained but improved. We are a better orchestra because of Peter. I hope you enjoy Peter’s pre-concert videos and comments from the stage, a rarity among conductors. They serve to make your experience listening to our orchestra most meaningful. We are a better audience because of Peter. As you sit with us tonight, I hope you enjoy the sounds of some of the finest musicians assembled in Northwest Florida. We are honored to have musicians who play at such a high level and who are also part of the fabric of our community. They are professors at the University of West Florida, students at Florida State University, music teachers for our children and … They represent the finest of our musical community and what I hope you also know is that many of them grew up in Northwest Florida, listening to this same orchestra and now get to live their dream of playing in their community. We are a better place for music and the arts because of these musicians. As you sit here tonight, I hope you also know that after tonight your Pensacola Symphony Orchestra will be working in our community. It may be in long term, established initatives like the fifth grade concerts that so many of you attended as children and now see your own children and grandchildren attend. What a great experience for generations of our citizens! It may be more recent initatives like how we bring soothing music to the children at Nemours Specialty Care or our partnership with the Lamont Community Music School. We are a better community because of the involvement of the PSO with our youth. Once you leave here, I hope that you continue to support your Penscola Symphony Orchestra. Whether it’s listening to Peter’s pre-concert cues, bragging about our exceptional orchestra and musicians, bringing a friend to a concert or financially supporting the annual campaign or our community and education initatives. We are truly better because of your support! Thank you again for supporting your Pensacola Symphony Orchestra. Everything we do is for you. Sincerely, Bentina Terry Board President From Our Board President 33
