Cherokee County Development Board 101 Campus Drive Ph: 864-206-2804 Web: http://www.cherokeecountydevelopmentboard.com The mission of the Development Board is to recruit new business and industry, foster a pro-business environment and assist companies already operating within Cherokee County. The Development Board is a source for information on available properties, labor force, training and education, infrastructure, quality of life, existing industry, and taxes and incentives. Offices are located in the Cherokee Business Training Center Building on the campus of Spartanburg Community College, Cherokee County Campus. Cherokee County History and Arts Museum 302 College Drive Ph: 864-489-3988 Web: http://www.cherokeecountyhistory.org With a collection of more than two thousand artifacts and thousands of square feet of display space, the museum has dozens of displays on a wide range of topics related to the history and culture of Cherokee County. The museum offers curriculum and standards-based tours in all content areas and at any grade level. The museum also sponsors a Living History Day devoted to educating Cherokee County students through living historical re-enactments, storytelling, crafts, discussions and other activities. Museum hours are Monday through Friday 10:00am - 4:00pm. Cherokee County Public Library 300 East Rutledge Avenue Ph: 864-487-2711 Web: http://www.cherokeecountylibrary.org Located in the Residential Historic District of Gaffney, the Cherokee County Public Library’s main branch includes a children’s area, a vibrant teen area, a Learning Resource Center for students age 18 and under, a Job and Career Resource Center, a public access computer lab, and a large meeting room that serves both library and community functions. The Heritage Room houses genealogy and local history research materials. Cherokee County Veterans Museum 200 South Logan Street Ph: 864-489-4704 The Cherokee County Veterans Museum houses items from the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and over 500 artifacts from World Wars I and II, the Korean War and Viet Nam. Group tours are available by appointment. Hours of operation are Sat 9:00am - 11:00am and Sun 2:00pm to 4:00pm and by appointment. The City government is administered by a Mayor and City Council, a City Administrator, and a City Clerk. A wide range of public services to Gaffney citizens are provided through nine departments of government. The following departments are housed within City Hall: Administration, Community Development, Municipal Court, Finance, Human Resources, and Public Works. City Hall is open Monday through Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm. Gaffney Visitors Center 210 West Frederick Street Ph: 864-487-6244 Web: http://getintogaffney.com Travelers and newcomers to the city of Gaffney can receive free materials such as city and state road maps, lodging and housing information, restaurant menus, shopping guides, community event schedules, local attraction brochures, and telephone books. The Visitors Center also houses the City of Gaffney Department of Marketing and Tourism, the Get into Gaffney Main Street office, and an art gallery. Operating hours are seasonal.
