Guitarist and composer Cañizares is arguably one of the most important and influential flamenco artists worldwide but is just as comfortable with classical repertoire and his own compositions. With a career spanning over four decades, Cañizares is the first and only flamenco guitarist to perform with the Berliner Philharmoniker; he played Concierto de Aranjuez  with the orchestra directed by Sir Simon Rattle in Madrid’s Teatro Real. He has collaborated on over 100 albums and as a solo artist he has published 10 albums of his own. Winner of the prestigious Premio Nacional de Guitarra,  Premio de la Música, and Flamenco Hoy, Cañizares has collaborated with Paco de Lucía, Enrique Morente, Camarón de la Isla, 48 THE FLORIDA ORCHESTRA | 2016-2017 Serrat, Alejandro Sanz, Mauricio Sotelo, Leo Brouwer, John Paul Jones and Peter Gabriel. Cañizares’ compositions to date range from works for the Spanish National Ballet Company and soundtracks for films including  La Lola se va a los puertos  with Rocío Jurado and Paco Rabal, and  Flamenco  by Carlos Saura. An upcoming highlight includes a commission for the Orquesta Nacional de España in 2016. Besides his recording career and concerts, Cañizares spends a great deal of his time researching and teaching flamenco. He has taught flamenco guitar at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya since 2003 and enjoys giving masterclasses as part of his engagements. Recent and upcoming  highlights include performances with Orchestre National de Lille,  Mauricio Sotelo’s  El Público  at Teatro Real in Madrid,  Palau de Música de Catalana,  Auditorium di Milano, Festival de Granada,  Festival de Radio France et Montpellier and La Folle Journée. Yetzabel Arias is an internationallyrecognized, Cubanborn soprano, particularly known for her excellence in baroque and classic repertoire. After graduating from the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana, she continued her vocal studies at Accademia Internazionale della Musica in Milan, Italy. In Europe, Arias has won prizes in singing competitions in Chimay, Naples and Rome and has performed in some of the most prestigious venues, including Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Tonhalle of Zurich, Konzerthaus of Berlin, Auditorio Nacional de España, Madrid, Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Roma, Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool, Orchestre National de Lyon, Orchestra dell’Opera di Roma, BachFest in Leipzig and many others. She has performed as Roseanne in Alessandro and Teseo in Agilea at Badisches Theater of Karlsruhe, Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at Miami Music Festival, Belinda in Dido & Enea at MiTo Festival in Milan and Turin and Megacle in L’Olimpiade by Pergolesi in Jesi, Italy. In 2012, she made her American debut in a recital at the Library of Congress in Washington DC with Italian ensemble La Risonanza. In addition, she was invited by Maestro Michael Francis to perform at the Mainly Mozart Festival in 2015 and 2016. Since 2013, she has collaborated with Maestro Ton Koopman, who has invited her to perform several concerts of Mozart, Haydn and Bach. Their next engagements include Messiah at Santa Cecilia in Rome, a European tour of Bach’s St. Matthew’s Passion with Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse with Ricercar Consort at Potsdam Festival and 3 Thousand Rivers by Victor Gama in Bogotá, Colombia.  CAÑIZARES Guitar YETZABEL ARIAS Soprano
