Dr. D. Keatley Waldron, DC in how they look, weight loss has become a game and unfortunately patients seeking to lose weight have been caught in the middle. With so many advertisements, pills, and shots promising to help a person lose weight people become confused with all the misguided options and they are burned out and frustrated only to see they regain the weight and then lose confidence.  “Many folks that we see in our office confess they’ve tried everything with little to no success. The first thing that I and my staff emphasize is that our office does not sell a “diet”. As a physician’s office, our goal is to educate the patient on a better lifestyle!” says Dr. Waldron. The first and biggest part of a healthy lifestyle when you are overweight or obese is your nutrition and food intake. It’s not all about calories and exercise, but rather how each person’s own body responds to different foods first and foremost and eliminating foods that slow Dr. Waldron was born and raised in Sebring and graduated Sebring High school 1982. He attended South Florida community colleges for pre-med and then transferred to Life University in Marietta Georgia where he graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1987. After a few years of practicing under a mentor he returned to Sebring and opened a private practice in 1990 where he’s been caring for his patients overall health ever since! One of the pressing concerns he had for many of his patients was their weight. Seeing many who he knew could benefit greatly health wise if they could lose weight, as well as hearing from many on a daily basis about how they would like to just ‘look’ better. With that, he opened a weight loss office in Lakeland 2 years ago and has since helped literally thousands of Highlands and Polk county residents lose weight and improve their health! Dr. Waldron emphasizes that they are not a “diet center” but rather a physician based health care center that provides doctor supervised weight loss. To start, one his friendly staff usually Emily or Laurie will perform a body composition analysis that will include the patient’s weight, body fat percentage, BMI, hydration levels, and current metabolic age. It makes sense to check these key factors because long term success is about how your body is functioning as a whole. Then based on the analysis of each individual’s reading, natural supplements and food instructions are sent home with each patient to begin their journey to looking and feeling great! Daily follow ups through calls or texts are done by Dr. Waldron or one of his knowledgeable staff members, this helps each patient stay focused and encouraged. At the beginning of each follow up visit a new body comp is performed to analyze the patient’s progress and to determine if any adjustments to the individual plan needs to be tweaked. If tallied, the number one reason most ‘suggest’ we need to lose weight is to be healthier and that is very true, especially if you ask a healthcare provider. However, after thousands of consults with overweight patients Dr. Waldron has realized for a lot of people it’s not all about losing the weight for health but for many it’s about looking and feeling good about yourself. Better health is an automatic byproduct of weight loss so Dr. Waldron doesn’t mind discussing the topic of ‘looks’ with each patient because ultimately they WILL become healthier! In a time when so much of the world is caught up Continued on page 22 20 WomanToWomanMagazine.com
