Our Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs also do their part to keep things lively with a variety of activities and fund-raisers, from weekend long festivals in Placida to golf tournaments, evening events and the 4th of July Fire Cracker Festival. There are the signature events that attract people from all over to Englewood including the Englewood Family YMCA’s Tropical Nights, the Artful Lobster at the Hermitage Artist Retreat and the Englewood Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. 2015 saw the first Englewood Beach Waterfest and championship power boat races with a parade, parties, music, food and more leading up to the races held at Englewood Beach. Then of course there’s Englewood’s biggest celebration of the year, Pioneer Days, with concerts, contests, music and more throughout Labor Day weekend. Make sure you find a place early to watch the parade, as thousands line the Labor Day route for this very popular tradition. With plays, exhibits, car shows, pancake breakfasts, concerts, golf tournaments, dances, dinners and more, you can be sure your social calendar will be full all year. BOATING Boat owners who don’t launch from a private dock will need to find a public boat ramp and there are many in Charlotte and Sarasota counties. AINGER CREEK PARK 2011 Placida Road, Englewood EL JOBEAN BOAT RAMP 4224 El Jobean Road, Pt.
