SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES The HSUS has made it a priority to decrease our impact on the Earth by implementing the following policies for Animal Care Expo 2017: • Printing the Expo Showguide & Directory on recycled paper, acid-free and elemental chlorine-free, with soy-based ink • Serving vegan meals, an effective strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from animal agriculture • Purchasing environmentally friendly attendee items when possible (e.g., badge holders made with a biodegradable vinyl window and constructed of 95% recycled PET) • Using water coolers and water stations to eliminate plastic bottle waste • Serving items (e.g., creamer and condiments) in bulk rather than in individually packaged servings THE BROWARD COUNTY CONVENTION CENTER GREEN INITIATIVES: The Broward County Convention Center has adopted numerous sustainable practices pertaining to recycling, energy conservation, water conservation, operations and food and beverage services.
