The North Carolina Division of Tourism, Film and Sports Development recently announced that domestic tourism in Currituck County generated an economic impact of $146.93 million in 2015. This was a 1.90 % change from 2014. More than 1,580 jobs in Currituck County were directly attributable to travel and tourism.Travel generated a $28.18 million payroll in 2015.State and local tax revenues from travel to Currituck County amounted to $13.10 million. Which represents a $518.58 tax saving to each county resident. Local tourism-related businesses can have their brochures on display free of charge. In addition, display cases highlight what businesses have to offer the traveling public. The centers are operated by the Currituck Tourism Department and are totally funded by occupancy tax, the tax paid by vacationers who stay overnight in accommodations located in Currituck County. Drivers License New residents planning to operate a motor vehicle in the state of North Carolina must obtain a driver’s license within a 60-day period after establishing a permanent residence.
