The Digger’s Dungeon is a pit stop for thousands of visitors headed toward the Outer Banks. Located on the mainland, the Dungeon offers a wide variety of souvenirs, T-shirts and collectible items. The huge trucks, many with tires taller than 5 feet high, make for a great photo opportunity. Dennis Anderson is available for autographs and photos on selected dates. The center offers a little bit of something for everyone. It is the home of the Currituck YMCA, Senior Center and Cooperative Extension. Just a few steps away from these state of the art facilities are natural grass athletic fields and a brightly colored playground. The playground is an all inclusive playground with structures for toddlers, older children and handicap accessible play structures and swings. Don’t forget to check out the newest addition to the Currituck Community Center, the skate park with 7,000 square feet of concrete skate surface and the nearby climbing tower. The Dismal Swamp State Park offers interactive exhibits, half-mile boardwalk, 20 miles of trails and numerous Ranger led programs.
