The Final FlareINSTRUCTIONS A B Carefully pin all layers together inside the quilt blocks. We are using pins to ensure that all layers do not shift when quilting these pieces together. C D Next, trim the excess backing to match the 1/2” seam allowance of your quilt top. We are now ready to bind our quilt. E F With right sides together, lay two strips of binding perpendicular to each other. It is now time to add the backing fabric. Cut your backing at least 2” bigger than your quilt top all the way around. Place your backing fabric right-side down then place your quilt top right-side up over the backing fabric. Next, using a walking foot, carefully stitch in the ditch through all layers of your quilt. Stitch in the ditch is a method of quilting where you stitch in the seams of each block. This minimizes how much thread shows on the top of the quilt. NOTE: We are using a clear thread for this step. Start by cutting your binding strips 2.5” wide. This will create a finished binding of 5/8 of an inch. The length will depend on the size of your quilt. We recommend 2” longer than the perimeter of your quilt. 100www.anitagoodesignonline.com
