It is a beautiful recreation area in a secluded cove on the back side of Laurel Lake. Good swimming with lifeguards in attendance, Berkshire view, flowers, Adirondack chairs; toys for kids of all ages, picnic tables and grills. Hours: 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m., seven days a week. Open on rainy days for nature viewing. Your host will provide proof of your stay, which you give to parking attendant upon arrival. Bring your volleyball! MONUMENT MOUNTAIN Fairly strenuous climb to summit for panoramic views of the Housatonic River Valley. Three-mile loop trail. Popular hiking spot for famed authors William Cullen Bryant, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Herman Melville. Not recommended for small children or pets.
