Surgery DR. SHIVA SEETAHAL — MD General, Laparoscopic & Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Shiva Seetahal is a member of the surgical specialist team at Heart of Florida Physician Group in Davenport, FL. Dr. Seetahal performs a wide spectrum of general surgical procedures, specializing in minimally invasive and laparoscopic approaches. He is also fellowship-trained in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. Born and raised in Trinidad, Dr. Seetahal was the only member in his immediate family to join the medical profession, but as luck would have it, he ended up marrying Dr. Trishanna Sookdeo, a family practitioner, at Heart of Florida Physician Group. Dr. Seetahal loves surgery, but his favorite part of the day is interacting with his patients. He enjoys sitting down, talking and getting to know them, and he credits these interactions with helping him become a better surgeon. Wanting and being able to connect and develop a rapport with his patients gives him an advantage in understanding them, their ailments, and the best way to treat them. When not seeing patients, or performing surgery, Dr. Seetahal is busy keeping up with advances in laparoscopic and general surgery. He attained a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with honors at the University of the West Indies in Champs Fleur, Trinidad.
