First-time homebuyer affordability index dips below 100 percent Millennials and their first-time homebuyer brethren are having a hard time buying a home, what with extremely low inventory; a mountain of student debt; and rising values. Those same rising values have now driven Orlando’s First Time Homebuyers Affordability Index below 100 percent for the first time since November 2008. The Orlando housing market traditionally sees a jump in closings between February and March, as buyers who began their hunt after the holidays make their way to the closing table.
