The Oxymoron of Trees The Weeping Willow tree by all accounts is its open leaves, draping limbs and large stature; since its name suggests sadness and tears. This wonderfully large growing tree offers pain relief, such as; headache, muscle pain, menstrual cramps, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout and a disease of the spine call ankylosing spondylitis. Willow bark contains salicylic acid, the ingredient of aspirin which reduces body temperature (fever) even better? It does not cause blood thinning and using the whole striped branch, it contains natural mucilage that soothes the tummy keeping stomach irritation a thing of the past. So why is it called the name Weeping Willow? When rain falls upon a Willow tree the long narrow leaves veins slow the pace to raindrops that resemble tears, thus granting it the name Weeping Willow. So should something bring you to tears, sit upon the umbrella of the Weeping Willow and using its wonderful offering of branches to soothe your pains away. Take in capsule form or strip the bark from a twig cutting and brew a cup of tea to drink. By: Elizabeth G. Morgan, Herbalist/Apothecary Dandelion Soap Herb Shop 4640 Lake Woussicket Rd.
