A period of continuous technological development, the Fifties are a time of progress and changing social norms. MORE VARIETY THE STYLE With the introduction of popular artists creating music with an extra ‘pep’, this vibe continued into the quilting world as well. Vibrant fabrics with a quirky twist were more accessible. The themes included cowboys, horses, and space, basically anything that was popular at that time. There was even an introduction of roses and fruits on different fabrics. With the advancements in technology, the quilting industry followed suit with changes of its own. Sewing Machines were beginning to be created with more stitches to choose from and a variety of feet. Quilt patterns also started to grow in popularity. Many libraries started carrying “How To” quilting books including pattern options! 27
