1980s The Eighties was an age of advancement with the introduction of digital technology. Digital technology was a major industry in the 1980s thanks to video game companies, such as Nintendo, which claimed 90% of the market. Personal computers were gaining popularity with companies, such as IBM, Commodore and Apple, rolling out new models for home usage. Walkmans, Boom boxes and VCRs were also very popular during this time period.
