55 Steps H Run the tack down stitch for your base fabrics. J Once the stippling is complete, run the placement stitch for your first appliqué fabric. For Rag Quilt designs, we will use 2 pieces of fabric. You will want to cut your fabric so that the larger fabric will have a 1” seam allowance on all sides, and the smaller fabric will have a ¹/₂” seam allowance. Lay those fabrics over your design. The next embroidery step will provide the stippling for your design. Traditionally, you will want to match your thread with your fabric. TIP Lay your appliqué fabric face-up, being sure to cover all placement stitches. Run your tack down stitch for the appliqué fabric. Wait to trim. G I K L
