A Steak Lover’s Dream Nothing Fancy, Just Fabulous Food! With a name like Big Mike’s Steakhouse, you know from the start that you’re in for a great eating experience. With plentiful menu selections and huge portion sizes, the eatery’s second location has become an instant hit in Orange Beach. Co-owners Mike Cole, Scott Powell, Caine Conway, Casey Taylor team together for a fresh twist on the time-honored steakhouse tradition. “Big Mike’s is unique in that you are treated like you are family from the moment you enter,” said Cole. “We take great pride in not only serving great food with large portions, but also having outstanding customer service. We want people to enjoy their dining experience and feel special, not like just a number. The “first” Big Mike’s Steakhouse debuted in October 2013 in Thomasville, Alabama, but the Gulf Coast area is certainly familiar to “Big Mike”. Mike originally worked with Diamond Jim’s in Livingston, then in Orange Beach. In the summer of 2013, Mike convinced his two best friends - Scott and Caine - to join him in opening the original location. The “Big Mike’s” ownership group then courted Casey to join the team prior to opening the Orange Beach spot. “Working together with your friends, the satisfaction that people get from being treated right in our restaurant, the excitement of meeting new people and old friends. Those are the things that make this career unique,” explained Cole. For the “Big Mike’s” team, it isn’t just about serving steak in their restaurants. The group also operates a herd of 80 Registered SimAngus cows under the name of the Sucarnoochee Cattle Company. “As seedstock breeders our goal is to raise cattle that will grade to the qualities that we serve in our restaurants.”
