OB’s Newest Big Splash A passion for food. Although the choices for quality restaurants are plentiful in the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach area, Jason Barje and Jeffery Grossman along with their partners at Big Wave Dave’s are ready to make a big splash of their own in the local food service market, both literally and figuratively. Big Wave Dave’s Kitchen & Beach Bar has recently opened in Orange Beach, aptly named - and located - for the region, sitting beside Ron Jon Surf Shop. BWD partners with over 80 years of combined total experience in the restaurant industry and seasoned local team in Roy Pippin, Barklie Hebert, Ryan Hinton and Matt Waterman by their side, the future is bright. “In this industry we have the great pleasure of meeting so many different people from all walks of life, said Barje. “Every day is different, every day is a new adventure and we get to be part of it.” Featuring a menu that boasts a variety of dishes, from southern-influenced seafood to lobster rolls to Mexican street food, Big Wave Dave’s also features a full craft bar. “Everybody eats every day, so every day we have the opportunity to feed - and make happy - hundreds, sometimes thousands of people with food and service we have a great passion for.” Barje began working at his own family’s restaurant as a child after school, and soon found a passion for the industry himself. Opening an establishment on Pleasure Island seemed like a natural selection, he said. “The incredibly friendly and welcoming people and, of course, the beautiful beaches, brought us to the Gulf Coast,” said Barje. “We plan to take root in the community and to meet everyone who makes this great beach town what it is today, as well as what it will be tomorrow.”
