17 Assembling Handles steps STITCHING TOTE BAG TOGETHER f g 2.0 2.0 Fold the short raw edges of both ends of each strip 2.0”, wrong sides together. Press and pin in place as shown. Note: the picture above is showing both ends of one strip. Heirloom Christmas | 2017 Q3 Workshop You are now ready to create the handles of the tote bag, Cut 2 pieces of fabric #2 into 5.0” x 35.0” strips. Using a pencil or fabric chalk, mark the center line as shown of each strip on the wrong side of fabric. h i Now fold the long raw edges of both strips, wrong sides together, to the center line. The bottom strip shows both edges folded, pressed, and pinned in place. j k Using your sewing machine, top stitch all four sides 1/8” from the edge. Do this for both handle strips. Continue to fold long edges in half, length wise, matching up the folded edges. Pin in place. This is what your handles should look like once both have been created. Finished handles should measure 1¼” x 31.0”.
