STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS A B Next, place a piece of batting over top of the placement stitches, making sure to completely cover all four sides. C D Using scissors, trim the excess batting outside of the tacking stitch. This ensures the batting is not in the seam allowance; making the blocks easier to stitch together. E F Step 3 of the design will be the tacking stitch for the base fabric. Do not trim. Note: We used a black thread for instructional purposes only. We recommend matching thread to your fabric for the tack down stitch. To start, hoop a piece of no-show mesh stabilizer and stitch step 1 of the design. This is the placement stitch. Note: The entire design will be inside of these squaring stitches. Step 2 of the design will tack the batting in place. It will be slightly inside the squaring stitch to allow for trimming. Place your base fabric, right-side up, over top of the batting tack down stitches. Be sure base fabric extends past the batting by at least 1/2” on all four sides, allowing for seam allowance.
