Some of the services they provide include: MOCK INTERVIEWS Here at UNC Charlotte, these are 30-minute meetings with a recruiter from a company/ organization. The mock interview will last for 20 minutes. For the final 10 minutes, the employer will give you feedback on both your resume and your interview skills. HIRE-A-NINER Easy access to jobs, internships and co-ops. Schedule a career advising appointment. Research employers in the employer directory. Organize your employment history (internships, co-ops, full-time or part-time employment). Explore majors and careers in the resource library. STRONG INTEREST INVENTORY An online assessment that helps you discover interests, preferences, and personal styles; useful information as you make decisions about a major or career. UNC CHARLOTTE | J U N I O R YEAR MYERS BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR The MBTI assists students with career decisions by identifying occupations and working environments that may fit their personalities. UNIVERSITY PROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (UPIP) The internships offered through UPIP differ significantly from most other student employment positions on campus. They are designed to provide professional knowledge and skill development consistent with your major/career goals. Another option: Your Niner could also enter the workforce and attend graduate school part time. This also is a feasible plan, especially if their employer offers some form of tuition assistance, but again — make sure they do their research. In the case of employer assistance, it’s important to understand not only the contribution their employer will make, but also the commitment the employee will need to make to their employer in return.
