“Th e beauty/Just beyond the gate/Must be enjoyed by you” are lyrics of a feel-good gospel tune on the “A Hushed Th rill: Brookgreen Gardens” CD, released in 2016. Th e song invites guests to enjoy the multifaceted and amazing sights and sounds of art, nature, and history once they are on the grounds. Although more than 360,000 guests visit Brookgreen Gardens annually, its impact to those beyond the interior confi nes of its gates – locally to internationally – is equally astounding! Th e CD of eight songs about Brookgreen Gardens was produced through a partnership with the Athenaeum Press of Coastal Carolina University in 2016. Th rough collaborative eff orts of CCU music students and staff , and me, the project showcases attraction highlights and visitor comments about the country’s premiere sculpture garden to listeners who have yet to experience fi rsthand the hushed thrill that it conveys.
