RIBBIT THE EXHIBIT If you have not made it to Brookgreen to see Ribbit the Exhibit, time is running out. Th ese wonderfully whimsical large copper frogs will be hopping away on July 9th. Artist J. A. Cobb’s work has been bringing smiles and laughter to Brookgreen’s visitors since the opening on April 1, 2017. In addition to the exhibit, our Creative Education Department program included educational and fun activities for children. Brookgreen’s Horticulture Department created a wonderful garden for the frogs to land in with a special, themed “garden room” for each one. Th e garden will remain in place after the exhibit is over as an outdoor butterfl y garden to complement the Whispering Wings Butterfl y House. 2017 BROOKGREEN MEDAL For President’s Council members and above, if you have not yet received your 2017 Brookgreen Medal, we encourage you to stop by the Membership Offi ce any weekday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to pick up your medal. If you would like to have your medal mailed to you, please call the Membership Offi ce at 843-235-6015. CAMP BROOKGREEN Camp Brookgreen provides one-week-long activities with an emphasis on connections to the natural world, animals, and art. Summer fun and educational enrichment at Brookgreen Gardens include hands-on activities, zoo and garden exploration, live animal encounters, crafts, games, stories, projects, and more. GULLAH GEECHEE PROGRAM SERIES On Wednesdays, June - September Join Ron Daise, Brookgreen's Vice- President for Creative Education, author, and historian, as he presents “Taak dat Taak (Talk that Talk)” on Wednesdays at 1 p.m., in the Lowcountry Center Auditorium. Th e program examines values that give meaning to why Gullah Geechee people talk the way they talk, live the lives they live, and value sustaining their culture. Th e program is free with garden admission. RECENT ACQUISITIONS, 2014-2017 May 27 - July 23 Our early summer exhibition in the Rainey Sculpture Pavilion will be featuring works by Stanley Bleifeld, Marion Roller, Marilyn Newmark, and Domenico Facci, all of whom are represented by 2017 Medal Black-crowned Night Heron by Heidi Wastweet ~ 6 ~
