1 2 1 Gator Country | South Carolina 3 Alumni News Mike Devane, MD ’97, is director of interventional radiology and oncology at the Greenville Health System and a clinical assistant professor of radiology at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. Heather Hinshelwood-Rangel, MD ’05, is assistant director of emergency medicine at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. After touring the world on active duty with the U.S. Navy at stations such as Okinawa, Japan; Afghanistan; and San Diego, she now serves in the U.S. Navy Reserves. Helga E. Rippen, MD ’93, PhD, MPH, is chief medical officer of Alertgy, a startup company that is working to develop a noninvasive device for monitoring blood sugar and providing alerts for those with Type 2 diabetes. She is based in Columbia. John Walton, MD ’67, is owner of Blue Ridge Urology, a medical practice specializing in vasectomies and other urologic care. Walton, who is based in Greer, is celebrating 50 years since graduating from the UF College of Medicine. Robert L. Williams, MD ’91, is vice chief of the medical staff and vice chief of the surgery department at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. He also serves as chair of the Medical Staff Peer Review Committee and chair of the Medical Staff Quality Insurance Committee. Previously, he was chief of pathology and laboratory medical director.
