Smoking Improving health and maintaining a comfortable healing environment have always been top priorities for Evans Memorial, which is why we are a completely smoke-free campus, inside and out. We ask that you support the health and wellbeing of our patients, staff, and visitors by not smoking or using tobacco products when you visit the hospital. Telephone For your convenience, telephones are provided in each patient room. • Local Calls – 9 + Number • Inside Hospital Call – Dial 4 Digit Extension Number • Hospital Operator – Dial 9 + 739-2611 Family and friends may call you at the hospital by dialing 739 + 5 + your room number. We regret that calls will not be added to your hospital bill nor will the hospital operator be able to accept collect calls for patients. However, the hospital operator will be glad to assist you in making your long distance calls. Coffee/Snacks Vending machines are located in the waiting area by administration and the Emergency Department waiting area. Restrooms Restrooms for visitors are located in the Emergency Department waiting area, at the outpatient entrance, and at the main entrance by administration. Newspapers The local newspapers are provided on Wednesday and Thursdays of each week for our patients. These papers are provided at no charge and are delivered to your room by a representative of the hospital. Drills While you are here, the hospital staff may have to practice a fire drill or disaster drill. Such drills are held to assure maximum safety for patients. Please do not be disturbed if you hear or see evidence of such drills. Security Surveillance Twenty-four hour security surveillance cameras and recording equipment are installed at strategic entrances to Evans Memorial Hospital and security sensitive areas to enhance the investigation of security issues. Taped information is reviewed and maintained by Evans Memorial Hospital. Visitation/Visitors The hospital will allow a family member, friend, or other individuals of the patient’s choice to be present with the patient for emotional support during the course of stay unless it infringes on others rights, safety, or is medically or therapeutically contraindicated. This individual may or may not be the patient’s surrogate decisionmaker or legally authorized representative. Medical, Surgical, and Monitoring Unit Hours for visiting patients in the Medical, Surgical, and Progressive Care Unit areas are from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Surgical Services 1. Same Day Surgery: Visitors (1-2) may stay with patients in the Same Day Surgery Unit. 2. OR and Post Anesthesia Care Unit: As a general rule, visitors are not allowed.
