Vermonster 4x4 and Mother Nature have a history. Typically, throughout the years they get along very well and Mother Nature plays pretty nice. Well....Not on Friday before Vermonster in Rutland, VT. The weather went from a little breezy to full on hurricane force winds and palm-sized hail in minutes. Transformers being torn from rooftops by unrelenting gusts were just a small amount of the carnage Mother Nature bestowed upon on us. Despite a major portion of the city losing power until the early hours of Saturday morning (including the hotel)...as the saying goes... “The Show must go on”. Staff, drivers and crews all worked together to get trucks and trailers in and parked and unloaded safely in the less than ideal conditions and everything began to move as usual, even if slightly later than scheduled. It is truly amazing to watch our Mud Family come together. Whether it be something close to a mini natural disaster or fundraising for a fellow racer in need this sport and this family never cease to amaze me. As Saturday moved along the racing began without any major hiccups. As always, the national anthem, followed by a monster truck exhibition and moving into Mud Drags. The lanes had plenty of wet, sloppy mud, one of the few blessings of the crazy storm. Everything moved smoothly through The Trench runs, lots of Rock Crawling, Obstacle Course racing and more. Plenty of specators and trucks made the day go by quickly with non-stop action. Sunday brought back the wetter weather and brought Photos by Rapid Velocity Photo FEATURE
