CLOSING OUT What is your community service? REALTORS® don’t just sell houses, they create communities! ORRA members share their volunteer efforts to improve the lives of people, pets, and plants. Visit orlandorealtors.org for more examples. JESSIE SANGIL LOVERA REALTY My community service efforts have benefited my real estate business tremendously. I am involved in my HOA and since joining, I have interacted and formed relationships with my neighbors. Helping my community has opened many doors to my real estate business given that I am able to demonstrate how dedicated and committed I am toward a cause. KEITH JAMES BERTRAND SOUTHERN HOME TITLE I am a volunteer at Jones High School in Orlando. I serve as the head football coach for the freshman and junior varsity football teams. We spend three to four hours a day, four to five days a week, preparing for a game during the season. During the off season, I spend my time teaching the students how to work out safely, how choose the right foods to eat, and how to study properly. SHEILA BEASLEY METRO REALTY GROUP Because of my love for animals, I recently decided to help at the local animal shelter. I go a couple of times a month to walk the dogs that have been caged all night. It’s easy to fall in love with them, but it’s great when I go back the next time and learn that they have found a forever home. GISELA SMITH CHARLES RUTENBURG REALTY I serve as a volunteer partner/ mentor as USA Dance, an organization that provides ballroom-dance classes for individuals with special needs, Alzheimer’s patients, disadvantaged youths, and veterans. I also dance in outreach performances at schools, churches, festivals, domestic-abuse shelters, and charity fundraisers. ED HERBST KELLER WILLIAMS CLASSIC REALTY I’m the president of the Orlando Museum of Art Associates, a volunteer support group committed to expanding the museum’s membership and encouraging the appreciation of the visual arts. To date I’ve logged more than 1,000 hours! I also volunteer at A Gift For Teaching and average seven hours a month driving a box truck to pick up and make deliveries. DONNA MORTON FLORIDA SUMMER HOMES REALTY I serve as CEO of Florida Community Outreach and as a committee member of the Orange County Drug Free Coalition. The coalition collaborates with community partners, law enforcement, schools, higher education, faith-based organizations, parents, and community members to develop a strategic action plan to reduce alcohol and other drug use. SOFIA LUGO PREMIER SOTHEBY’S INTERNATIONAL REALTY I have volunteered with the Orlando Police Department for the past 14 years, both on patrol and covering local events. It’s given me the opportunity to get to know our city and its residents from a unique perspective. It’s also instilled a deep appreciation for the work done by our law enforcement officers on a daily basis, and for the many challenges they face. MICHAEL BROWN TITLE CONSULTING SERVICES, LLC I put my attorney skills to work by serving as a teen court judge or jury advisor once a month with the Orange County Teen Court program. The program is for juveniles who have been arrested, and completion of the program results in having their charges dropped. I’ve been involved for six years and it truly grounds me to help these children. 32 Orlando REALTOR® July / August 2017
