CREATING CHAIR CUSHION TEMPLATE A B You will create the template for your top cushion fabric first. Place one piece of craft paper over top of the seat. Tape the front edge of paper to front chair rim as shown. Be sure the craft paper is smoothly pressed in place on top of seat. Then create a crease, indicated with dotted line, where the edge of the seat meets the seat back. C D On the top cushion fabric template, you will also want to indicate where the cushion ties will need to be attached. This will vary with what type of chair you are using. We made ours 1.0” on each side of the seat. E F Once the paper template is trimmed out, fold in half to make sure both sides of template are even. Trim out the foam insert template you created in step C. Note: do not add seam allowance for this template. Should be same size as actual chair seat. The first set of instructions will show you how to create the two templates needed to make the chair cushion. You will need a pencil, tape, and 2 pieces of craft paper to create both templates. Any type of paper will work, as long as it is large enough to completely cover the seat. Using a pencil, trace around the edge of the seat, allowing the pencil to slide along the edge of the chair. Note: You will create an additional paper template with the other piece of craft paper for the foam insert of cushion. After tracing foam paper template, place to side. Place the top cushion fabric template on a flat surface, and draw a seam allowance line 1¼” outside of your first trace line around all sides of the template. Then, trim out the template using the outside seam allowance line. TAPE 1.0” 1¼” A SUNDAY AFTERNOON | Full Collection | 121
