SEWING CUSHION TOGETHER Then press in half one more time. Using your sewing machine, stitch the long edges together, ¼” from the open side. Once the ties are complete, place to side. They will be attached later in the instructions. 1 2 3 C D At a 45° angle, stitch the two strips together leaving a 1/2” seam allowance. Then, trim the seam allowance to ¼” and press open. Repeat to connect enough strips to equal 70.0” (or circumference of chair being used). E F With cording in place, fold the strip in half, lining up the raw edges together. A To begin, you will create the ties of the cushion first. Using your fabric of choice, cut four strips 3¼” x 25.0”. Press the short ends of each strip in ¼”(picture 1). Then press the long edges of each strip in half to create a center crease (picture 2). Re-open each strip and fold raw edges of long ends to meet at center crease as shown (picture 3). Once your cording strips have all been attached, you will cut a piece of cording 70.0” long. Place the cording down the center of your strip as shown. B You will now create the cording fabric for the cushion. Your cording fabric needs to be 70.0” x 20.0”, which will create an approximate 1/4” finished cord around the entire perimeter of the cushion. Steps C & D show you how to create one long cording fabric using shorter strips of fabric. If doing so, lay two strips of cording fabric perpendicular to each other as shown.
