ALL ACCESS | EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT 25 Q&A With Lucia Clark ALL ACCESS APRIL 2017 | SPECIAL FEATURE What is a typical day for you? A typical day for me depends on where we are at on a particular project. Sometimes I need to run certain quilt blocks on embroidery machines. If blocks are completed, such as a tile scene, I would sew them together while taking step-by-step pictures. If it’s a new project we have never done before, I would meet with the tutorial team to go over writing clear and concise directions so customers can do the project at home. How did you get involved with Anita Goodesign? Two years prior to starting with Anita Goodesign, I had my own sewing business making children’s clothing and window treatments. However, I always wanted an embroidery machine and to learn how to use one. One day I came across an ad in the paper of an embroidery company looking for a seamstress. I thought this was the perfect way to learn how to use an embroidery machine, especially from a company that specializes in embroidery. I worked mostly with garments before working at AGD. I had never really quilted before Allegiance. It took me 4 days to do one quilt, but once I got the hang of it I was able to complete a quilt within 1 hour. What is your favorite collection? machines. I picked the thread colors and stitched out all the blocks. I then sewed it together to create a beautiful quilt. From beginning to end, it has always been my favorite collection. Perhaps it’s because What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? I love doing DIY projects at home with my two boys. What is your favorite aspect of your job? No matter what type of project I am working on, I love working on the embroidery machines. However, my favorite is creating projects or patterns from an inspiration like a picture or drawing. I love seeing that project come to life as it goes through the entire process of becoming a collection. What is your most memorable experience working at Anita Goodesign? The most memorable for me was when we had bring your child to work day. I brought Michael, my younger son, and I was able to show him what mommy does everyday at work. We even got to create an art piece together. He was so excited to show his dad and big brother what he made. What is your advice to someone new getting involved in embroidery and sewing? 1. Set up your machine in a room you want to always be in. Be sure you make it as comfortable as possible with a sturdy table and comfy chair. 2. Don’t store your machine in the box...you won’t use it as much as you say you will. Keep it out and about to remind you of why you started! Pledge Of Allegiance Sock Monkeys Candle Wraps
