CREATING PETAL SETS Start by stitching out the petal set designs for each flower you wish to attach to the vase design. This example uses three different sets to create the finished project. A B Place the appliqué fabric over top of the placement stitches, completely covering all sides. C D Using sharp scissors, trim away the excess fabric from the tack down stitches. E F Once both petals are created, remove the stabilizer from the embroidery hoop. Using scissors, trim away as much excess stabilizer without snipping the design stitches. To begin, hoop a piece of wash-away stabilizer. The first machine step will be the placement stitch for the first petal appliqué fabric. Step 2 of the design will be the tack down stitch, securing the appliqué fabric in place. Once trimmed, run the remaining embroidery steps of the petal.
