CREATING YOUR BLOCK G H Step 4 will create a free motion stitch to match your base fabric on the background of your design. Step 5 is a placement stitch for your ragged edge appliqué. I J Step 6 on your machine will tack down your appliqué fabric. Make sure to use a thread that matches your fabric as it is a decorative bean stitch. Note: We did not match our thread to our fabric due to photos reference. K L Cut the excess fabric away from the outside of the basting stitch line. Step 3 on your machine will tack down the fleece and base fabric. Do not trim. Lay your appliqué over the placement stitches. Make sure your appliqué fabric is 1⁄2” larger than your placement stitches. Note: 1/2” allows us to create the ragged edge appliqué look. Step 7 is a basting stitch. We include this basting stitch so that each of our ragged edge appliqués have a perfect 1⁄4” seam allowance in order to create the ragged edge look in Step R.
