34 www.EliteEquestrian.us EE & John P. Connolloy is Living the Sporting Life Discover the treasures of the National Sporting Life Museum at www.SportingLife.org. ‘Intense’ may not be the first word that comes to mind to describe a librarian but the same strength, power and deep concentration we find in great horsemanship more than applies to John P. Connolly, the George L. Ohrstrom Jr. Librarian serving the National Sporting Library & Museum in Middleburg, VA. The mission of NSLM is to preserve, promote and share collections related to equestrian competition, foxhunting and horse racing (as well as freshwater fly fishing and wing shooting). The digital preservation of such history begs intense modern discussion that rises well above a whisper and this one librarian who is ready to ride back to the future. With equestrian books dating back to 1523 and an art collection of oil paintings, sculptures, prints, silver trophies and more, that’s truly where we can measure our success.
