as a project. Through the Mobility Enhancement Grant (MEG), we were told we could create … pilot projects. We are allowed to go outside those requirements and try different things. So Pinellas County, Clearwater, the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) had a proposal that asked us to fund a pilot program, through the Mobility Enhancement Grant. Their plan called for giving the riders a choice, giving them three different resources: one was Uber, one was of the local taxi services, and one was a nonprofit organization that provided transportation for those needing wheelchair transportation. Thus, PSTA created a one year program called TD Late Shift, funded by a $300,000 grant awarded by the Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged. “ “Expected outcomes go beyond simply providing rides to customers during non-service hours,” said Brad Miller PSTA Chief Executive Officer. “We are hopeful to be able to show a direct local economic impact by creating new opportunities for unemployed residents who were previously unable to get jobs because of a lack of transportation.” Sources: http://www.fdot.gov/ctd/ Call to find out about Watson’s relocation services which includes Certified Senior Advocates for transitioning seniors.
